There’s good news following the protest, which a Green councillor helped to organise, about the proposed closure of Uley village dispensary and surgery.
Cam and Uley Family Practice has now withdrawn its application to move the dispensary to Cam, and will not be applying to the Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group to close the surgery, the parish council has said. The CCG will be looking instead at how the building can be improved and updated.
Green district councillor Martin Pearcy, who spoke at the protest to a crowd of more than 120 villagers, said: “This is great news. The Uley and Nympsfield Parish Councils have done a tremendous job in getting support from their residents. But the fight is not over, as we want to make sure that all services will be retained at the surgery.”
