I have been running a landscaping firm with my husband in the Stroud District for the last 25 years. John started his career as an economist with an insurance company and has also been an independent consultant. His clients included many well-known businesses and governments both here and in the US, Switzerland, Germany and Kuwait. Since retiring from full-time work, John has recently been getting increasingly involved in local politics. He stood for election to Stroud District Council in May 2024 in the Hardwicke ward. Chloe Turner was elected in 2021 as county councillor for Minchinhampton and is standing for re-election.
She is also a district councillor for Minchinhampton, a position she was elected to in both 2021 and then again in 2024.
She says of her four years in the role: “They have been satisfying, challenging and enjoyable – and sometimes infuriating. The best part has been working with my four Green colleagues at GCC, who all have different strengths and interests.”

gill thomas
Gill was elected as Parish and District Councillor for Minchinhampton in 2024. She was already active in the local community and saw standing for election as a way to get more involved with politics at a grass-roots level. Gill says: “Being a District Councillor has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’ve particularly enjoyed making a meaningful difference in our communities.” She is now standing for election to Gloucestershire County Council as a way of building on this work, expanding her reach and influence to create an even greater impact.

craig horrocks
“Craig was elected as a Stroud Town councillor for Farmhill and Paganhill in May 2024 and has worked to raise the profile of his ward within the Town Council. A larger Green group on the county council in May would lead to more focus on local voices and communities”.

Tom, a chartered engineer with Oxford and Cambridge degrees and business experience, seeks election in Stonehouse, advocating for “doughnut economics” and a sustainable future. He aims to join a Green-led coalition to drive social justice and environmental protection, focusing on finance, transport, housing, and waste.
