sue fenton

Sue is deputy mayor of Stroud and part of the Green group on Stroud Town Council,
where she sits on the Environment and Finance & Policy committees.
She has been active in Stroud District Green Party since moving to the area five
years ago and is the local party’s media relations officer.
She was previously a Green borough councillor in Surrey for a year, having been
invited to join the Green Party and stand for election as a result of campaigning
against the arrival of an international coffee-shop chain that threatened local
independent businesses.
Her career background is in journalism and public relations.
Outside local politics, she likes family history research, creative writing, taking part in
open mic nights, walking in the local countryside around Stroud and being a
volunteer at the Sub Rooms.
She is a member of the National Trust, Greenpeace and the Stop the War Coalition.
She says: “I’m standing for election to GCC because the existing Green councillors
have accomplished so much by way of social and environmental improvements for
the county, and I would like to be part of an enlarged Green group that can get even
more done for residents.
