Members of the Green Party joined Stroud Against the Cuts and other community members at a protest organised against ongoing NHS privatisation outside Stroud Hospital today as Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt visited today.
County Councillor Eva Ward, a member of the Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee said: “We’ve been seeking to ask questions about the transfer of NHS staff to a subsidiary company – a step on a slippery slope to privatisation. Yet we’ve been refused the space to scrutinise these decisions. Decisions have been being made in secret.”
Local Ward Councillor Lucas Schoemaker described how moves to introduce parking charges undermine universal access to care and have a knock on impact for local residents.
At Westminster, Green MP Caroline Lucas continues to advocate for the NHS Reinstatement Bill to reverse privatisation and protect the future of the NHS for all.
At all levels, Green Party members are standing up for public health care – free at the point of delivery – and delivered without discrimination.
