Stroud District Green Party are delighted to welcome National Green Party Deputy Leader, Amelia Womack, to Stroud this Wednesday, 12th April, to promote their County Council election campaign.
Amelia is the youngest deputy leader of any UK political party and is committed to youth engagement and making young people voices heard both in politics and within the Green Party.
Amelia will be greeted at the station by Alan Mossman, the Green Party candidate for the Bisley and Painswick division at approximately 3pm, where she will be taken to the amazing ‘Access Bike Project’, where she will be met by Anna Bonallack and the young people working on the project.
She will then be taken to Star Anise for tea cakes at 5pm, where she will join Eva Ward, the Green Party candidate for Stroud Central division and young people from the ‘Stroud OPENHouse’. Afterwards, Amelia will do a spot of canvassing with Eva in the town at 6pm, before leaving Stroud shortly after 7pm.
Eva Ward commented: “We are thrilled that Amelia is able to visit Stroud and be part of our election campaign. We are particularly keen to highlight the importance of taking up voter registration for the County Council Elections by 13th April, particularly for young people, who have been effected by funding cuts to Council Services. We would urge all people able to vote to register at http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/elections-2017/
Alan Mossman commented: “We are keen to show our support for clean and efficient public transport, creation of safe cycling and walking routes and investment in youth and social services”.
