Free online discussion: How can we use land sustainably?

Soil health expert Mica Francis will be giving an online presentation on Wednesday January 18 at 6.30pm about how land can be used sustainably.

Mica, an agriculture consultant with an MSc in Soil and Water Sciences, specialises in analysing soil and crop production data to better understand the interactions between human-made systems and the natural ecosystems they are embedded in. This helps farmers to maximise their profits by maintaining or improving productivity while reducing input costs.

He says: “My agricultural-ecosystem-approach uses organic amendments to supplement traditional fertiliser and herb/pesticide use, which improves sustainability and resilience of farm enterprises while reducing negative impacts on neighbouring natural ecosystems.”

The event, which starts at 6.30pm, is part of Stroud Young Greens’ Missing Ed programme, which aims to educate young people in environmental and social subjects not covered in the school syllabus.

Mica will be giving a further talk on this subject, on Wednesday March 8 at 6.30pm.

Everyone of all ages is welcome to attend the discussions and you can sign up here:
