LUCAS SCHOEMAKER

Lucas is chair of the Finance & Policy committee on the Town Council, as well as being the elected District Councillor for Trinity ward.

Since moving to Stroud in 1984, Lucas has been involved in many initiatives set up to address social and economic needs.

He says: “Communities should work for everyone, and we all play a part in co-creating truly fair societies. Local solutions should be found to local needs, through working with other local people.”

His hobbies include singing in a community choir, gardening and exploring the British Isles.

SUE FENTON

sue Fenton - Town council candidate for Stroud Trinity

Sue serves on three council committees: Environment, Personnel and Community, and is deputy chair of the latter.

She sits on the Subscription Rooms working group, which acts as the council’s liaison with the theatre’s management.

A freelance writer and editor, Sue enjoys genealogy, gardening, songwriting and hiking. She loves Stroud for its stunning scenery and green spaces and for its environmental and social progressiveness.

She says: “Being on the Town Council is enjoyable for the chance to have a say in decision-making and to get involved in so many interesting facets of life in Stroud. I love the fact that councillors from different political parties work together amicably to reach consensus on what’s best for the town.”

MARK GRAHAM

Mark Graham - town council candidate for Stroud Trinity

Mark is chair of the Environment committee, which oversees all environmental matters, including the green spaces managed by the council.

He also serves on the Finance & Policy committee and the Community committee.

An ecologist and author with a career background in conservation and habitat management, Mark has supported various environmental projects and has appeared on local and national radio and television promoting a wide range of environmental issues. 

He is passionate about wildlife and the need to preserve biodiversity and to address the devastating effects of climate change.   

Mark believes that real change has to happen at the local level and that Stroud can become a model for sustainable living, demonstrating to others that it is possible to live a fulfilling life without compromising the wellbeing of future generations.
