Kevin Cranston - Stroud Central

Kevin has been a Town Councillor in Stroud since 1997 and was Mayor for a total of 10 years, seven of them consecutive, until 2022.

He serves on the Finance & Policy and Regeneration committees.

A former helicopter pilot in the Army, he now works as a management consultant, helping companies to reduce their environmental impacts.

Kevin has lived in Stroud since 1996, and likes walking, reading, watching rugby, gardening, woodworking, cooking and wine.

Kevin says: “I know the importance of working with others to get things done. Cooperation makes for a stronger and healthier community.”

STELLA PARKES

Stella Parks - Town council candidate for Stroud Central

Stella joined the council in 2020, bringing a wealth of involvement in local community activities to the table.

Stella was born in Stroud and went to Stroud High School. She is a trained careers adviser and retrained as a journalist – reporting on local council meetings, among other things. She went on to manage the press office at Gloucestershire County Council and South Gloucestershire Council. She has also managed a charity shop in Stroud and helped Stroud Valleys Project set up their eco shop.

She has been involved with various pressure groups over the years including Slad Valley Action Group, the Community Planning Conference and Stroud Against Supermarket Saturation. Currently Stella is chair of Trustees at Stroud Valleys Project

She has been voted back as Stroud town mayor for a second term in 2023 and has a particular interest in regeneration and the changing role of the town centre and serves on the regeneration committee at Stroud Town Council as well as the Finance & Policy, Consultation & Highways and Personnel committees.

She says: “I am very keen to be more actively involved in framing the development of the town at this crucial time when businesses and residents are facing difficult challenges.”

In her spare time she enjoys reading and walking in the valleys.

LOUISA STINTON

Louisa works for a training consultancy and has previous experience in casting, customer engagement and people development. She is currently chair of the council’s Personnel committee.
She also serves on the Community committee, which aims to support and empower Stroud residents to bring about social change and improve the quality of life in the local area.

Having settled in Gloucestershire in 2019, she loves the sense of community in Stroud and is passionate about women’s rights and mental health education.

Louisa has a degree from the University of Birmingham in Drama and English Language, and enjoys acting, theatre and writing and attending local Arts events. Louisa has recently got back into playing netball, playing for a local fun league, and is training to become a volunteer mentor for a local youth charity.
