Dursley

danae savvidou

Danae is a councillor on Dursley Town Council, where she serves on several committees and the Tourism Working Group, and is vice-chair of the Town Trust, which manages local historic buildings.

She also represents the town council on The Vibe – the Dursley Youth Centre – and the Cam & Dursley Joint Youth Committee, and is a trustee of the foundation that owns and maintains Twinberrow Woods.

She has lived in Stroud District since 2004 and the scenery is her favourite thing about the area.

Danae works as an office and sales administrator and is a member of the Unite union.

She says: “I am passionate about Dursley, and through my work as a Dursley Town Councillor I have worked really hard to make life more pleasant for residents. From adding a grit bin to ensuring the continuation of the youth service level and putting on free concerts in the town centre, I’ve used my position to help make Dursley the best place to live!”

Danae is standing for the District Council as a way of further advocating for the community and town where she lives. She would like to see better public transport, more council houses, improvements to the way people on the council house waiting list are banded – and more inclusive spaces for neurodivergent people.

She is interested in history and in the theatre. She has a degree in Theatre Arts and has staged performances in Dursley.

Danae was a member of the Labour Party until 2022 when she resigned over the national Party’s mistreatment of then Labour group leader Doina Cornell. She switched to the Green Party because the party better reflects her values.
