Coaley & Uley

Martin Pearcy

Martin Pearcy is seeking re-election after his first term as a district councillor.

Among his activities as a councillor have been traffic monitoring in Coaley, supporting the Coaley Recreation committee and supporting residents with planning issues.

He is also involved with the campaign for a local ‘Greenway’, which would provide a safe route for pedestrians, cyclists, mobility scooters and wheelchair users. If re-elected he will work towards a Greenway extension into Coaley & Uley to keep local shops businesses open and thriving.

He believes that improved rural cycle routes and bus/train services are vital to enabling residents to shop, take part in community events and generally feel part of the local community.

With a BSc degree in Environmental Science, Martin has always been interested in the environment and counts his involvement in setting up the local Climate Action Network as one of his favourite achievements.

He is chair of Coaley Parish Council, where he has been a councillor for about six years.

On Stroud District Council he has served during the current term as vice-chair of the Audit & Standards Committee, Strategy & Resources Committee and on the Development Control Committee.

Martin has lived in Coaley since 2013 with his family and loves the Cotswolds landscape and the independent thinking of local people.

He looks forward, if re-elected, to helping the council deliver its Local Plan and support the rural economy.

In his spare time Martin enjoys growing organic vegetables, walking and playing strategy board games.
