Rachel Smith, Candidate for Gloucestershire County Council, Minchinhampton Division

Rachel SmithI’m standing as your Green Party candidate for Minchinhampton County Council Division because I believe we need more voices standing up for public services, transparency and the environment at County Hall.

I moved to Minchinhampton in my early teens. The community and environment has shaped the person I am today. I now live in Stroud with my husband Tim, who runs a technology co-operative.

I work as music therapist and service manager for a care charity across Gloucestershire. In my clinical practice I see the devastating impact of austerity every day. We need to challenge the cuts, and to work on creative, joined-up solutions that can protect people’s independence and quality of life.

Getting transport right is also a top priority across the division. We need to sort out our roads: not just with private contractors patching up potholes – but with planning for safe, sustainable local transport as part of any new developments.

In Stroud District the Green Party has demonstrated what progressive policy looks like. With your support on 4th May we can do the same for Gloucestershire.
