Martin Baxendale is Chair of the Development Control Committee. He was elected in 2014 to replace Green Councillor Molly Scott Cato after she was elected as MEP for the South West. One of Martin’s main priorities in office is to protect the Slad valley from inappropriate development.
Martin is committed to opposing plans for large-scale development on Baxters Fields. He successfully opposed plans to sell off Stroud Subscription Rooms to the private sector, and persuaded Stroud District Council to stop investing in fossil fuel industries through its pension fund.
