Eva Ward, Candidate for Gloucestershire County Council Elections, Stroud Central Division

Eva WardEva has lived in Stroud since 1974, working as a social worker for Gloucestershire County Council for 28 years.

In 2000 she moved to live in Bulgaria where she worked to develop new social work services for over ten years. Since her return to Stroud, Eva has been an active Town Councillor and was involved in the campaign to reduce plastic bag use in the town.

Eva says “Having raised my own family in Stroud I understand the issues faced by ordinary people in the town. I’m now very concerned about the effects of austerity measures on local health and public services. If elected, I will use my extensive social work experience and knowledge of family issues to explore innovative ways of working with the local community to meet the needs of older people, those with additional needs and young families struggling to afford housing."

Sarah Lunnon, who is standing down as the Green Party County Councillor for Stroud Central Division, says of Eva: "Standing down as Green Party Candidate for Stroud I recognise that Eva Ward is well placed to use her knowledge of social work and family issues to replace me. She will be a huge asset in opposing the cuts imposed by continuing austerity. Warm, compassionate and with huge support, I look forward as a member of the Town Council to working with Eva. Please join me and Vote for Eva Ward"
